Dan Gluibizzi to Receive a Pollock-Krasner Grant

"For four decades, Pollock-Krasner Foundation grants have enabled visual artists to create new work, purchase needed materials, cover studio rent, and more. Past recipients of Pollock-Krasner Foundation grants have shared that this support is critical in allowing concentrated time for studio work, preparation for exhibitions, and other professional opportunities. Grants for artists are unrestricted and can be used in any way that allows an artist to meaningfully pursue their practice...In support of Lee Krasner’s mission to advance the work of visual artists, the Pollock-Krasner Foundation is honored to provide support to the growing list of PKF Grantees and has awarded more than 5,200 grants totaling over $93 million across 80 countries to-date." - Pollock-Krasner Foundation

Dan Gluibizzi blends kitsch and whimsy to create drawings and paintings of everyday objects found throughout our digital lives. Drawn from the abundance of images observed in the worlds we scroll, swipe, and inhabit, the artist creates grids, groupings, and arrangements that are akin to an eccentric cabinet of curiosities. His body of work invites the viewer to consider the relationships between the virtual and physical worlds we inhabit, and the way our experiences are shaped by the constant flow of images and information that surrounds our lives.

Gluibizzi lives and works in Portland, Oregon. He received a BFA from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and went on to earn an MFA at the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gluibizzi has an international reputation, having illustrated for the New York Times and Vogue Magazine, and included in selected press from Juxtapoz, White Wall Magazine, Wired, The Observer, Print Magazine, Beautiful Decay, and New American Paintings. Gluibizzi has been part of numerous group and solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally since 2006. His work is in notable private and public collections, including Hall Art Foundation Museum, Reading, VT; Meta Open Arts, Bellevue, WA; Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, Portland, OR; Oregon Health Science University, Portland, OR; Multnomah County Portable Works Collection, Portland, OR, and SoHo House, Portland, OR.
