Press Release

For the month of June, Russo Lee Gallery exhibits Bounty by Dan Gluibizzi. For this exhibition, Gluibizzi blends kitsch and whimsy to create drawings and paintings of everyday objects found throughout our digital lives. Drawn from the abundance of images observed in the worlds we scroll, swipe, and inhabit, the artist creates grids, groupings, and arrangements that are akin to an eccentric cabinet of curiosities. This body of work invites the viewer to consider the relationships between the virtual and physical worlds we inhabit, and the way our experiences are shaped by the constant flow of images and information that surrounds our lives.

Dan Gluibizzi lives and works in Portland, Oregon. He received a BFA from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania and went on to earn an MFA at the University of Cincinnati, College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP) in Cincinnati, Ohio. Gluibizzi has an international reputation, he has illustrated for the New York Times, Vogue Magazine, and has been included in selected Press from Juxtapoz, White Wall Magazine, Wired, The Observer, Print Magazine, Beautiful Decay, and New American Paintings. Gluibizzi has been part of numerous group and solo exhibitions both nationally and internationally since 2006. His work is in notable public collections, including Hall Art Foundation Museum, Reading VT; Meta Open Arts, Bellevue, WA; Randall Children’s Hospital at Legacy Emanuel, Portland, OR; Oregon Health Science University, Portland, OR; Multnomah County Portable Works Collection, Portland, OR, and SoHo House, Portland, OR.
