Portland painter, Gina Wilson creates abstract paintings that allude to the figure. Her playful subject matter bounces and cajoles in an off beat and distinctive way as she lets the process of painting reveal experiences of memory and moment. Working intuitively she defines form and negative space in a soft and intimate way. The subtle hints of formal composition within her work add to its raw but elegant presence. Just as her ideas may begin in one place and end up in another, Wilson likes her images to read in a multitude of ways. Originally from Chicago, Gina Wilson has had work exhibited in the Portland Art Museum; Clackamas Community College, Oregon; University of Oregon, Eugene; and Seattle Art Museum, Washington.
