Francis Celentano received his MA from New York University in 1957, and later studied in Rome with a Fulbright in Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts. One of the original New York Op artists, Celentano moved to Seattle in the 1960s to become Professor of Painting at the University of Washington. He has exhibited work since 1958 and has completed various public commission projects in the Northwest. His work is in numerous collections, including MOMA, NY, Albright Knox Museum in Buffalo, NY, Rose Art Museum at Brandeis University, Waltham, MA, the Seattle Art Museum, the Henry Art Gallery, University of Washington, and Stedlijk Museum, Schiedam, Holland.
